MY DIY: Sewing Station

BEFORE: (notice all the crap on the floor)

so, my sewing station (in my bedroom) was in dire need of repair. i had bought some floating shelves (from target originally) at goodwill this past spring for really cheap (i thought because they were pink). so i painted them white and stuck them on the wall. come to find out, they just suck! the top shelf has been slanted for about 5 months now no matter how much work i put into fixing it, so it has been basically worthless as i was afraid to put anything on it. so, wanting to salvage the shelves themselves, i just decided to buy some metal runners and brackets from LOWE'S and simply place my old floating shelves on top. worked out perfect! i bought one additional shelf for the top to store buttons/notions in mason jars. it's black now, but i'll paint it when the warmer weather returns! oh and had to include benji and kitty ;]

New Year, New Look!

Snowy_Owl
in honor of the new year, i decided my blog could use a little mini-makeover. i was never really a fan of my old one, however, i wouldn't consider myself to be the greatest at figuring out how to make it look custom to my liking. my bf ahem, doesn't exactly have patience for my anal ways, which i cannot blame him for, so i decided to take it upon myself to learn a thing or two. turns out, it's not all that difficult. i'm still playing around with it, but you get the idea. bathroom theme - too personal?? well, it's not going anywhere anytime soon, so GET USED TO IT!!! oh, happy new year! ;]

i love the idea of placing curtains in an entryway. a few feet from the door would give room for a little spot to take off shoes/coats and be able to leave them there, and yet be concealed at the same time. it would help a lot with drafts too!

so, most of you know that i have been making roman shades for some clients recently, and all was going well until i received the order from HELL! having to make a shade larger than me (wide and long) on the floor was not the greatest decision i've ever made. let me just tell you that after working on it for about 5 days, my back is completely wrecked and i'm finding it difficult to go to bed and even sleep because i have so much pain. sigh. i was excited for all this business, but i think i may have to decline future projects. at least for a while. although, i do HAVE to do 4 more within the next week and a half. HELP ME! (sorry, needed to vent) anyways, here are some pretty examples!
